Traction Springs and where to find them

Springs can be used as components in different areas, different in nature and with sometimes unimaginable applications. Mollificio Anastasia has been producing springs and small metal parts of any shape and size for over 40 years, supplying companies active and operating in all sectors.

As we have to categorize the springs according to the type and application field, we distinguish: compression springs, torsion springs, extension springs, strip springs, bovine springs and leaf springs.

In this article we will focus our attention on traction springs, in order to better know the main characteristics, functionalities and most common applications.

Traction Springs are among the most common types of springs together with Compression Springs, but unlike the latter, they are stressed by axial forces that extend their length.

A distinctive feature of Traction Springs are the eyelets at the end, which can be of different types. Mollificio Anastasia produces both classic English, German, elongated or revolving eyelets and eyelets that can be customized according to customer needs.

They are mainly used as mechanical elements capable of absorbing considerable amounts of energy without reaching critical stress, they are used for various purposes including: shock attenuation, reduction or exaltation of vibrations, control of moving parts, energy storage, etc. …

Traction springs are widely used in various sectors, including automotive, agricultural machinery, earthmoving machinery, braking units, industrial vehicles, marine industry, valves and oil plants, steel industry, vibrating screens, elevators and hoists, etc…

Depending on the area of use and therefore also the sector in which they will be used, extension springs can be produced in different materials of various sizes.
Mollificio Anastasia produces cylindrical, conical and biconical extension springs in round wire of all sizes. Different materials are used for the production: 51CrV4 steel, drawn carbon wire, pre-tempered CrSi alloy wire (Fd, Vd, Td), stainless steel wire, Inconel X750.
